All About Nicotine Strengths
Generally, the majority of new vapers don’t know how nicotine in vaping works, which is completely normal, it is confusing to start with! To help those of you who are struggling a bit with the numbers, we wanted to make a quick and easy ‘cheat-sheet’ for you.
It’s important to note that these are only loose guidelines. Different strengths work for different people - I myself, was able to quit smoking completely by vaping eliquid with a 3mg nicotine strength, while others have struggled using 12mg. It’s normal to switch around to see what works best for you and your e-cigarette, but this is a great place to figure out where to start.
Let's Talk Strengths
0mg - Aimed at people who are trying to quit using nicotine altogether.
3mg - Aimed at people who smoke now and again - light use with a low dependency. Most commonly used in drippers or sub ohm tanks.
6mg - Aimed for people who smoke a moderate amount.
12mg - Aimed for people who smoke a moderate to high amount. Best used in beginner kits (pen style set ups for example) or in MTL devices.
18mg - Aimed for people who smoke a high amount with a high nicotine dependency. Again, best used in beginner kits or in MTL devices.
Our recommendation is to always start as low as you can, e.g. if you usually smoke 20 cigarettes a day, try vaping 6mg eliquid to begin with. With the right device and wattage, this could be your sweet spot and really push you to quit smoking for good. Or you might decide you’d like a little bit more, or less - in which case you’d switch down to 3mg, or up to 12mg.
Making sure you’re using the correct nicotine strength is more important than you might think, as using too much can result in side effects such as feeling nauseous and even developing headaches. To overcome this, you can reduce the amount of nicotine you’re using and you should feel fine shortly after, but it’s definitely something to be wary of when choosing your nicotine strength!
